TRUXTON TRANSFER STATION
Saturdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays 8 a.m. to Noon
The Truxton Town Board would like to provide the following information in an effort to make sure that our transfer station is being properly used by all of us.
1. The Transfer Station is for use by Truxton residents only.
2. The Transfer Station Attendants’ responsibilities are to “police” the transfer station. It is their responsibility to make sure that only town residents are using the facility and that only household trash and recyclables are brought in. It is not their responsibility to unload your trash from your vehicle.
3. The main containers are for household trash only. The trash must be in a clear or white trash bag and tied. The transfer station attendants have been instructed to not accept any items that are not in trash bags. There are no exceptions.
4. There is a recycling bin for metal/glass and also a bin for cardboard. Please see the reverse side of this form for accepted recyclables. All cardboard boxes must be broken down. This is to utilize as much space as possible in the bin. Please remember that plastic bags (grocery or garbage) are not recyclable. Please do not put the items to be recycled in plastic bags and then put them in the bin.
5. The Town of Truxton realizes that the annual Town Clean-Up Days are appreciated by residents. As many of you are aware, this is when the bigger items such as sofas, mattresses, swing sets, farm materials, wood items, and other “junk” can be brought to the transfer station. If you do not have a place to store these items until the Town Clean-Up Days, it is recommended that you take the items to the County landfill yourself. The Cortland County Landfill is on Townline Road in McGraw. You should call the landfill at 756-1741 for the hours or visit their website: http://www.cortland-co.org/sw/
